Project for innovative solar solutions for small-scale irrigation in the municipality of Boghé

Background: 

Increasingly unpredictable off-season crops and the practice of subsistence production using traditional methods make households vulnerable to climatic hazards and negatively impact food and nutrition security in the region.

Objectives: 

Contribute to the implementation of innovative solar irrigation solutions for small market gardening farms in the municipality of Boghé (wilaya of Brakna, Mauritania).

Budget: 
€255,000
Expected Results: 
  • Solar irrigation solutions are co-constructed with small producers and evaluated a posteriori ;
  • Local players are able to offer irrigation solutions  integrated into the local development plan ; 
  • On-site demonstrations are carried out and solar irrigation solutions are documented and disseminated on knowledge-sharing web platforms at national and international level.
