2021 Steering Committees on ECOWAP 2025

The ECOWAS Commission launches this Monday, March 22, 2021, the regional steering committees for projects and programs implemented under ECOWAP 2025. These committees bring together the various projects for better ownership, convergence and institutional synergy and participation of the UEMOA Commission and the CILSS Executive Secretariat. The following themes under discussion cover the period spanning from 22 to 30 March 2021.

  • Livestock and Pastoralism,
  • Fisheries and Aquaculture,
  • Agricultural productivity and competitiveness,
  • Adaptation to climate change,
  • Environment, forests, and biodiversity conservation,
  • Pesticide Management, Plant Pest Management and SPS,
  • Resilience, Food and Nutrition Security,
  • Institutional and organizational capacity building.

Objectives

  • To validate the 2020 activity report which presents the status of the implementation of activities, results, challenges, information, and perspectives of each project,
  • To validate the 2021 work plan and annual budget proposals (PTBA) for each project,
  • To analyze the status of implementation of the recommendations of the previous steering committee and take new recommendations for each project, and
  • To discuss synergies, convergences and complementarities between projects working on the same theme.

Expected results

Per project:

  • the physical and financial implementation reports as of December 31, 2020 are adopted,
  • The work plans and annual budget for 2021 are approved,
  • Challenges and prospects are identified,
  • Recommendations for improving the implementation of activities are made.

Per theme:

  • Points of convergence, complementarity and synergy between projects are identified,
  • Challenges and prospects are identified,
  • Recommendations are formulated.
