The President of the ECOWAS Commission, His Excellency Mr Jean-Claude Kassi Brou paid a courtesy call on the ECOWAS Regional Agency for Agriculture and Food to touch base on the activities, achievements, and challenges of this strategic Agency.

Discussing with the Executive Director of RAAF, Mr Ousseini Salifou and his team, President Brou recalled the need to have a more resilient agriculture with improved productivity that can adequately face the recurrent food and nutrition crises (civil insecurity, sanitary and humanitarian concerns, climate change, etc.) in the region.

Agriculture is the key driver of West Africa’s development. As such, the ECOWAS Commission is committed to increasing its support to its Member States in this dubious battle, and to particularly building the capacities of the Regional Food Security Reserve towards alleviating the sufferings of the needy populations.
