Towards the Establishment of a National Food Stock Management Authority in Guinea

At the joint initiative of the Guinean Ministry for Trade and the national Representation of the World Bank Group in Guinea, a virtual meeting was held on June 10, 2020, on the establishment of a National Food Stock Management Authority to address food and nutrition risks in the country.

For this project, Guinea wants to draw on the experience of ECOWAS on the establishment and operation of the Regional Food Security Reserve undertaken since 2016 following the Supplementary Act taken by the Heads of State and Government in 2012. The World Bank is eager to provide technical and financial support.

To recall, Guinea is already benefiting from the support of ECOWAS through the Food Security Storage Support Project as part of the strengthening of the second line of defense of the Regional Food Security Storage Strategy, which consists in supporting the national food security storage policies and systems of the Member States.
