Regional Cooperation: Spanish Ambassador to Ghana and Togo Visits the Regional Agricultural Research Agency

Visite de l'Ambassadeur d'Espagne à l'ARAA

On Monday, 29 September 2025, His Excellency Angel Lossada, Spanish Ambassador to Ghana and Togo, residing in Accra, paid a courtesy visit to the ECOWAS Regional Agency for Agriculture and Food (RAAF) at its headquarters in Lomé, Togo.

Ambassador Lossada and his delegation had a fruitful exchange with RAAF Executive Director Mr. Mohamed Zongo and his team on the Agency mandate and activities in the region.

He showed special interest in the good collaboration between ECOWAS and the Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation (AECID) in the implementation of the ECOWAS's Regional Agricultural Policy, especially activities covering Ghana and Togo, which fall within his competency.

Discussions between the two parties highlighted the Spanish constant and significant support provided to RAAF since 2013, amounting to nearly €19,400,000. Projects financed/co-financed or supported include the Social Safety Nets Project (2015-2022), technical support for the implementation of the ECOWAS Stock Project (2015-2021), the Research and Innovation Project for Productive, Resilient and Healthy Agro-Pastoral Systems in West Africa (PRISMA), 2022-2025, and the Project to Promote Integrated School Feeding Models in West Africa (PMAI-AO), 2023-2027.

Further discussions with RAAF will enable Ambassador Lossada to gain a better understanding of his country's support for the implementation of the Regional Agricultural Policy.
