Despite the potential for livestock production in Togo (availability of pasture, water, etc.), the country has a significant deficit in meat and dairy products. The main problem at present is the low milk productivity observed on livestock farms. Breeders do not have direct access to niche markets to increase their income, and small-scale farmers are the most marginalized. With regard to the general objective of PRAOP 3, the action will contribute to improving milk productivity and production, thereby promoting the development of the milk value chain in Togo, particularly in the Savannah, Kara and Central regions.

In order to find effective and efficient solutions to the problems hampering the development of the dairy industry, the project will act on several levers, in particular:

  • structuring players upstream and downstream of the dairy industry
  • building the technical and managerial capacities of players, which will promote the valorization of agricultural by-products and the production and management of animal feed
  • developing animal health care systems within farmers' cooperatives

To increase milk production by improving and developing production factors in order to increase the employability of young people and women.
